What Is Paint Correction?

Paint Correction has become a very loose term in the detailing industry. Buffing, buff job, polishing, compounding, paint correction can all mean the same thing depending on who you talk to. We here at The AutoSpa want to make sure you understand what you are getting with us. Anytime we polish paint, using the techniques that we do, we will correct the paint to some degree. To us paint correction is the focused removal of paint defects like swirls, light scratches, and RIDS (random isolated deep scratches). To understand the types of defects that are present in the vehicle the paint must be looked at under a certain type of light. Once you can properly see the paint you can then achieve real paint correction, it is all about what you can see. True paint correction takes time, we often see 15-30+ hours in correction work when going for near perfection. Depending on the vehicle, usage, type of damage, and desired results will all play a roll in deciding what is best for your vehicle.

We have a few levels of polish/correction work that we do. From basic gloss enhancing polishing to mild single and multi step correction and then full corrections. Depending on the type of defects that are present and how perfect you are looking your paint to be will play a roll in which direction we should go with your polishing choice.

Gloss Enhancement Polish -

Gloss Enhancement Polish -

Our gloss enhancement polishing is the entry level into paint correction. Our gloss enhancement package uses an All-in-One polish/sealant product to remove minor defects and increase the gloss of the paint. We then follow up with a spray sealant to give additional protection. This process typically has a correction rate of around 25-30%. This is ideal for a car that is very well kept or for someone looking to add a little shine to their ride. Click Here for Pricing

Gives the vehicle shine, reflection and radiance in a short amount of time. We are able to tailor your detail accordingly to maximize results. The Single Stage Polish removes approximately 50-65% of swirls, haze and light defects on vehicles with softer paint. Certain vehicles with harder paint allow similar results but require more time to achieve.

Several factors determine how much correction can be achieved with the single stage process. There is no one system or product that will work for every vehicle. With my technique and the proper tools, I am able to tailor your detail accordingly to maximize results.

This is for a vehicle that has heavy defects and swirling or holograming. The Multi Stage Polish correction starts with a cutting compound applied with the appropriate foam pad via a dual action buffer to reduce the likely hood of "burning" the paint. After the compounding process is done the vehicle is followed up with a polishing process of which can take multiple passes. Correction ranges in the 85-90% range, removing hazing, swirls, holograms, and paint defects.

Full Paint Correction

Full paint correction involves us chasing all defects that can be safely removed from the painted surfaces. This option will include an in-depth multi step correction along with spot sanding of deeper defects. Often reserved for concourse vehicles and show cars, full paint correction runs $75/hr
